“Gražuolės Piplytės” is a short film about the different destinies of four singing sisters, the twists and turns of life and the song that has always been around them. At the center of the film is the youngest sister, Genė, who has not escaped from exile, and the heartache she has experienced is difficult to put into words. According to the film director, sisters Piplytės are cheerful and strong women, therefore it would be a sin to speak about them only sadly. The director explains she wanted to reveal how songs help them fight the nostalgia of old age.
From an early age, the sisters were always living with the song, their closeness and communion in the song is reminiscent of a once so strong and vibrant singing tradition.
The screening of the film will take place in the yard of Vilnius County Adam Mickiewicz Public Library. It will be introduced by the film’s director Inesa Kurklietytė.
